The red is symbolic of the blood of the Cherokee Indian tribe on the "Trail of Tears". In 1838 the United States began the removal of the Cherokee to Oklahoma, fulfilling a promise the government made to Georgia in 1802. It also represents that of the Tibetan peoples' "Death March" to distant India in the year 1959 - who were forced from Tibet into exile by the Chinese government, who still claim the region as theirs. As was with the Cherokee, almost all of their culture has been eradicated. Needless to say, neither trip went very well.The falling objects are indicative of the dark rain which fell on all.
