The Everyday Journeyman

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I started off as a film school student and actor in the mid 90's. I'm originally from the UK but have called America home for a majority of my life. I've spent the past 10 years working in PR and Marketing for various Fortune 500 companies, many of which were media related. Over the past two years in particular, I've worked as the National Media Spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity, as well as a Co-Host for a weekly preshow for Fox Sports (the SPEED network) in 2008.
In 2007 I began developing The Everyday Journeyman, "the idea that anyone can experience exciting, life changing journeys on a day-to-day basis, regardless of income, education, or skillset." I envision it covering everything from backpacking across North America to global adventure travel, ecotourism to voluntourism. The plan is to spread The Everyday Journeyman via a wide variety of platforms: book, internet, television. It's "'Man Vs Wild' meets 'No Reservations' for the Barack Obama generation". I'm young, multi-ethnic, and the message of cultural understanding and the importance of everyday people stepping outside their comfort zones, if only for a day, is key.
I've traveled to countries as far away as New Zealand, China, and India, and I'm still learning about my own comfort zones. The more I travel, the more I learn about myself.
Over the past month I completed the Plymouth-Dakar charity rally, driving 4200+ miles from London, England to Banjul in The Gambia, a test of sorts for The Everyday Journeyman. I'm currently working on a travelogue of the trip with plans to have it published. In addition, I shot over 10 hours of high-def video footage and plan to enter the editing stage later this year. Travelling via Jeep through countries like Mauritania and Senegal with people who had never left the United States or their small towns in England is exactly what The Everyday Journeyman is about.
On April 26th, I'm leaving for a 6 month, solo thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. I will again work on a travelogue of the journey, as well as shoot high-def video footage throughout the hike.
The Everyday Journeyman is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and 100% of money raised throughout the hike of the Appalachian Trail will benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
I envision The Everyday Journeyman as a 5 year project, with documentaries and travelogues covering each segment. Eventually I would like to lead others as they start their own journey, and to share those stories with the world.
