Right now I'm trying to eat vegan. There's so much good stuff to eat without meat or dairy. But I keep eating cookies and stuff. I need to refocus.
Barack Obama so I can tell Mandy whether he smells of ciggies and Ralph Lauren cologne. Yum. I think that's how Nick Nolte smells when he's not being arrested, except replace the RL with OS. That doesn't mean I want to meet Nick Nolte, but I do want to smell him. I also really want to meet someone who doesn't mind talking about politics, because I don't think I do know anyone like that, and I know I get all upset and start screaming "personal is political" and stuff, but I'll try really hard to be calm and reflective and, most of all, a good listener if you'll just talk to me. Please. I don't want to talk about sweaters and haircuts anymore. (JT, I'm not talking about your red sweater, for the record.)
I just listened to a Sam Cooke bio/portrait program on NPR and remembered that I love him. School is done, and I am going to get back to music loving. It's been so long.
I haven't seen a really good movie in a while. Recommendations are welcome.
I am watching that Dexter show on dvd, and, while it's not great, I find this sort of sick vigilante justice extremely appealing. Dexter is a super hero with a secret identity and everything, and he's got a flaw just like the rest of them. Awesome.
I read What is the What? to continue my Eggers obsession, and I just finished Reading Lolita in Tehran. In reality, I finished reading Lolita in Puerto Rico on a beach. Other than that, non-fiction year is not going well. So I am giving up and reading Midnight's Children. Then I think I'm going to do some short stories. Anyway, speaking of reading, I'm going to do adult literacy tutor training in early January. Who wants to come along?
People. Lots and lots of them.
