About Me

.r{}.r{}
My name is David Smith. I am the founder of B.A.M. (Believers Against Meth) I would like to share with you what led me to take on this ministry.
My drug addiction started for me at age 13 when I smoked my first joint. I had already been smoking cigarettes for a year. I ran away from home at age 14 and was sent to a home for boys and then was in the county jail. All of this before my 15th birthday. I quit school at 16 and ran away to California. Got married at 17, divorced at 20. I joined the Army at 20, still doing drugs. Got into trouble again, this time was sent to jail at Fort Riley, Kansas. 30 days hard labor and 90 days retraining. Made it through that and was sent to Fort Ord, California to serve out my term. At age 21 I got addicted to Cocaine. I failed a urine test and lost everything again. By the grace of God I got out of the Army with an honorable discharge. I was a cocaine addict until I was 25 years old. That is when I was introduced to Meth. that was the end of my cocaine addiction....
HELLO METH....
I only knew it by crank and I liked it. It made me feel like superman. It was different than all the dope I had ever done. And I had done alot! I was hooked. But eventually the fun was gone. Then it became a struggle. A struggle to try and be a husband, to be a father and to be a meth addict. So I chose the Meth. I raised three kids in an atmosphere that they didn't deserve to be in and because of it my son and oldest daughter followed in good old dads footsteps. Okay, so now that you know a small part of my life I'll get to the point.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 - THE DAY THE TWIN TOWERS FELL - SO DID I
41 years old, I was arrested at work by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation Drug Task Force. One count of Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphanelia. My whole secret was out. My parents knew, my wife knew, my youngest daughter knew, everyone knew. Those that thought they knew me found out who I really was. A DRUG ADDICT. So now I am sitting in a jail cell in an orange jump suit again. But this time it's different. I am totally defeated. This is when God took over. He spoke to me in my spirit and said "ARE YOU DONE NOW?" I heard this just as if there was someone standing in that jail cell with me. And it moved me in a way that I still can't put into words today. But I know this much, that God has a purpose for every one of us. When we get into that position to hear him, he will reveal himself to us.
I am now49 years old and I have been clean of meth since September 11, 2001. Now I am doing what God has preserved me to do. Reach out to the addict and their families. I know from my own experience that there is a way out. His name is Jesus Christ and he is waiting for you to cry out to him. He will change your life. He will take you just the way you are today. If I can do anything for you, please don't wait another day, contact me right away. I am praying for you all.
Love in Christ
David.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I waited patiently for the Lord, he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of destruction, out of the sticky mud. He stood me on a rock and made my feet steady. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many people will see this and worship him. Then they will trust the Lord. .... .. ...... .. ..
