By the time Papa C was 6 years old he was ripping it up on the drums as the stand out force behind the "Little Drumming Trojan", for what was then known as the Louisville Colored High School in Lousisville, Mississippi. Around the age of 12, Papa C, began playing the guitar, soon after experiencing the
strong musical drawl of the late great Muddy Waters, who would play down the road at his sister's house in West Point, Ms. Whenever that riveting, and absolutely inspiring, American blues star came blazing back home to the ole' South, you could always find Papa C soaking up all the musical know how he could manage, always asking for more! Marking another big influence that flamed the ever increasing repertoire of the infamous Papa C was the "Five Blind Boys of MS", who back in the early 60's practiced in his father's funeral home. His dad, a touring musician, played the sax alongside the popular "Harlem Swing Cats". His family later moved to Ohio in the late 60's, living right outside of Cleveland. Papa C began to play and hone his new
skills on guitar, playing with a wide variety of different bands over the years. He attended Alcorn State University, mastering music under the direction of Dr. Samuel Griffin and Russell Thomas. To make a long story short, it was a cold day, November 16th, when Papa C first became exposed to Reggae, having the chance to experience first-hand the legendary magic of one of the world's most profound raggae superstars, Bob Marley, performing a soundcheck for a show in Columbus, Oh. The next week he walked into a club, Bogarts, on vine in Cincinneti where Black Uhuru was performing. At this momment he realized that reggae music was his calling, allowing his Jamacian heritage to take hold of him. It was at this time that he started to run sound systems in Cincinatti, Columbus, Cleveland and began traveling with Cleveland's reggae bands Satta, Ras Matungi and Earth Force. At the time he formed, "Outlaws I and I", touring the U.S., playing 46 out of 50 states. He has played and opened for artists such as Georgy Issiac, Mericaless, Buja Banton, Ras Shilo, Sister Carol,Sister Nancy, Culture, and many others. He has toured with "Outlaws I and I" for the last 14 years, until relocating to Ms, begining his new expedition as the founder member of InnaTribal a musical unit performing African Highlife and Native American Reggae.
