The Christian band StandOut originated in 2004 in Mauldin, SC. Originally singing atop recorded tracks, in 2007 they decided to pursue the possibility of a band and in late May the possibility become a reality.
Mandi Douglas, lead vocalist & founder of StandOut, is a very gifted and anointed vocalist and and a very creative individual. Her unique and original personality and style helps to define the origination of StandOut!
Lead Guitarist, Michael Vicars is also in charge of the musicians and musician training. Michael was the first musician to join in May of 2007. His skills as a lead guitarist and all around musician are amazing! Michael also helps with vocals.
Bass player & Clemson University student Will Funderburke was next to join StandOut in August of 2007. Will started on a part time basis but quickly became a full time member of the StandOut family!! Will is an incredible musician whose presence is invaluable to the band!
Rhythm guitarist Ricky Douglas is as Mandi would say her younger, taller brother. He's obviously been around since StandOut began and always stated that one day he'd be a member. That moment became reality when he was able to use his outstanding talent at his first concert with them on December 14th, 2007!
StandOut’s drummer, Andrew Fleming totally blew us away playing for the first time with StandOut on May 31st & June 1st of 2008! He is an extremley talented and unique drummer whose animation and sense of humor will keep you laughing all the time!!
As individuals and as a whole this band most definitely screams originality, creativity, a total love for Christ and ministry and they certainly answer to the call set before them to StandOut! Their purpose and message is certainly reflected in their daily lives and in their music. While they’re personalities may be different their message is the same:
“We want everyone to know that it’s ok to be different. You don’t have to have to give into pressures whether it be in school, work and yes even church just so you can fit in. Embrace who GOD created you to be in HIM. Stand up for who you believe in and don’t ever be afraid to STAND OUT!"
