BLACK LODGE: MAY 25, 2008 - LISTEN HERE!!!
Now playing: black lodge (tx)
Officially formulated in late 2003, the Austin Chapter of the Immersion Composition Society became the 12th such Lodge within the larger framework of the ICS network nationwide. For those of you who are unaware of the presence, existence, or history of the ICS, take care to look at the link below. The larger organization nonwithstanding, the Austin chapter of the ICS has become an entrenched ideal upon the minds and intellects of those who have continuously participated in its functions over these past 3 years, transfiguring and morphing the subtle creative bodies of the stalwarts who have resigned themselves to see this thing out to its conclusion. We meet (usually) once a month, and conduct ourselves by the ICS bi-laws outlined on the website below.
As far as those involved in the ongoing project, our group consists of members of many prominent and not-so prominent Austin music collectives of past and present, more commonly known as "bands". Such bands include (pardon me if i neglect anyone): The Invincible Czars, Opposite Day, Many Birthdays, Stinky Del Negro, Summer Breeze, La Mancha, The Ron Titter Band, The Austin Theremonic Orchestra, The Golden Arm Trio, Lightning Over Water, Kaballah Bomb, and many more.
The Blacklodge is currently attempting to navigate the over-arching detritus of modern life (i.e. schedules and crap), coming together somewhat more infrequently than in the past yet still adhering to its ethos in mind and body. Rather than post music here on this site, the links to the musicians in the "Top 8" here will bring you to some of the Austin ICS bulwarks who can then post their wares in a more concerted fashion. Drop them a line, and let them know you're listening.
The metaphysics, ethics, epistemology, and history of the ICS can be found at www.ICS-hub.org
