Hip Hop’s elite including “Jay Z”, “Rahkim”, “LL Cool J”, “50 Cents” and “Eminem” have passed the torch to a new breed of Hip Hop player. “Lil John”, “TI”, “Yung Joc”, “DemFranchizeBoyz”, who all happen to born and breed in the Dirty-Dirty are just to name a few of a growing list of very good up and coming Hip Hop artist from the south. In a very short time Southern Hip Hop has already carved out its very own place in Hip Hop history. But just when one thinks things could not get any better for the Southern Hip Hop Moment, the Dirty-Dirty gives birth to yet two more Hip Hop phenoms who just happen to be twins…Cashville’s own…“Tha Gutter Dwellers”…“Tha Gutter Dwellers”, the prodigal “Sons Of Joe Johnson”….The Joe Johnson Projects of North Nashville, Tennessee that is…were born Karl and Carlos Lancaster in the late 1980s. The “Twinz” as they are affectionately called by those closest to them are true miracles. They are miracles not only because of their status as the hottest new Hip-Hop talent to come out of “Cashville” but because their mother who raised them on her own, was told by medical professionals that she would never be able to conceive let alone have twins. Growing up without a positive male role model most of their lives, the “Twinz” turned to the streets to help with their up bringing. At an early age they learned the hustle game by selling penny candy to the kids and selling nose candy on the block to grown folks to help support their family. Lyrics of some of their songs talk about their struggles and their conquest in the streets. Despite their streetwise ways, the “Twinz” never strayed far from the church thanks to their loving mother. Church is where they first discovered their passion for music. The “Twinz” would often freestyle with other kids in the hood in front of the “Blue Store” on the front row. Before long, Karl began to learn how to put his thoughts down on paper and shortly after won numerous accolades in elementary school for his poetry. By age 14, Karl and Carlos developed their skills enough to frequent a number of recording studios and to date have recorded over 100 original compositions and logged countless recording hours, yet they are still not done.As the Rap duo “Tha Gutter Dwellers’’ the “Twinz” Karl and Carlos have shared many stages with some of Hip Hops hottest acts today including “Rick Ross”, “Pimp C”, and “Bohagen”. They are currently affiliated with “Slip-N-Slide” Records and are working with up and coming Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic Records national recording artist “City Boy” and Po’Boy/Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam Recordings national recording artist “Briscoe” as well recording a DVD entitled “Gutter TV” Volume 1 which includes cameo appearances from “8 Ball & MJG”, “Rick Ross”, “Pimpin Ken”, “Jim Jones”, “Pimp C”, “Young Buck” and “Hi C” of “G-Unit South”.
