My name is Christopher. I was born and raised in a small town in Kansas. Both parents raised me for most of my childhood; they parted in my early teens. Music is a large part of my life, in it I’ve found strong love and more, I feel a deep need for music in my life. I didn't learn to play the guitar until I was 12, however until then I was content listening to others play and sing. I've never been much on songs that are all words, and no meaning or heart. I’m older now, and living in Northwest Arkansas. When I listen to a song I want it to carry me back to my childhood, to a place where my legs will never be able to carry me. I strive to write music like that; that has great meaning to me.
Though most times the quality is not great, and the lyrics tend to run in circles of confusing mutter, each song has meaning. Each one is a memory whether good, or bad. I will never write a song just to write a song. When I’m lyrically inspired, it is most often memories, or things in everyday life. For example, I may be walking down the road and pass someone who I have never met before, yet they feel so familiar, almost as if I know them. Like they remind me of someone or something from my past.
Life has a wild way of passing by so fast. Though you may remember, pieces and fragments of a moment, your heart will never forget.
I’ll never forget the many roads I have traveled. Each path giving me a new story to tell. The friends made and lost. The many battles fought. These are the influences that have given me such a love of music. There are many influences in my life. Friends and family that have touched my soul, but the biggest musical influence has been my dear friend, recording buddy, and cousin Brandan. He joins me in writing most of our lyrics and music. Gasoline Tire Fire's music is based on our lives, our past, and our views of the future.
Music goes unnoticed every day, I believe we’ll never hear the best songs ever written because they never made it to the radio, I've got news for you, the radio sucks! Commercialism, money in trade for a mediocre tune has become the trend. The radio plays songs that have no meaning and pollute minds everywhere. I would rather sit back with my eyes closed. Listening to a song written by a real person that has genuine feelings, emotions, and memories, paying a song written with an acoustic guitar. Than listen to an overrated, over played, million dollar piece of crap that someone decided to call a song, so they could get a paycheck. It’s not just the music that has lost meaning; It’s also the heart and sincerity of the writer.
I don’t claim to be a talented musician. Sometimes I'm even a bit boring. But what you hear is what you get. I promise when you listen to my music you will here my thoughts, memories, the good times and the bad, the lowest parts of my life, to the highest. Both the things I wish I had done, and the things I regret doing.
