Mike Angel

About Me

Mike Angel began his career in New Zealand working his way through various clubs in the countries capital and before creating a defining residency in Christchurch’s Ministry. Taking his passion from intimate spaces to a full sized club proved to also be the making of the venue. Mike was the catalyst that helped one of New Zealand's largest clubs hit its potential just as dance music was beginning to force itself into mainstream acceptance. Along the way he played support for some big names including Judge Jules. By the time he moved on Mike had left a significant impact on the Christchurch club culture.
He went on to play further residencies in Wellington and Christchurch, most notably Azure and Viaduct, where he began to focus his direction on playing the different aspects of trance. His skills took him around the country before Mike made a move across the Tasman to Australia for a fresh beginning in a larger market.
Mike has embraced the uplifting trance productions of Ferry Corsten, Sean Tyas and many others, and draws influence from these artists as well as his own extensive experience. After a hiatus redefining his sound and mixing style, as well as setting up home in Australia, Mike Angel is ready for a fresh beginning and new challenges.

Ferry Corsten @ Home

While still feeling the after effects of New Years Eve we piled into a car again to hit Sydney 36 hours later for Ferry Corsten. I'd paced myself at the Morillo gig and we'd spent most of our time on ...

New Years Eve

I've always enjoyed playing New Years Eve because of the buzz you get off the people around you. But after doing them without a break since 2002 I'm looking forward to being on a dance floor instead t...

Watching the ARIA awards on TV last night I saw Gabriella Cilmi walk away with everything she was nominated for. The really refreshing thing was she sounded totally unrehearsed in her acceptances. Jus...

Godskitchen - Sydney

We attended Godskitchen in Sydney with high expectations that came down to earth with a painful silence as the PA died half an hour into Jon O'Bir's set. Although it became obvious that ticket sales...

Food safety

I have nothing against fast food restaurants, they fill a need that grows exponentially (it seems) in relation to your level of intoxication. Always a great place to amuse the kids in moderation. And ...

All Blacks vs France

I am resisting the urge to fire a barrage of expletives because of how frustrated I, and I'm sure many New Zealanders are feeling this morning. The All Blacks were robbed of their place in the World C...
