Playing drums, playing golf, NFL football, NHL hockey, good cigars, Smithwick's Irish Ale, a smooth whiskey, not having to worry about money- not necessarily in that order.
Well, I finally got to meet Kansas!! Check out my pics. That's me and Kevin with the guys. The concert pics are a little blurry, but I'll probably never get to sit so close to a Kansas concert again, so there they are. It was a night to remember!Next on the list are Aerosmith, Joe Paterno, Dan Marino, Gary Player, Tom Watson, and Raymond Floyd, but I doubt I'll ever get to see any of them. If he were still alive, I would have given anything for one day with Buddy Rich. I was fortunate enough to see him perform on his last visit to Berks County in the mid 80's, but his death at age 67 was premature. To meet Buddy would have been the ultimate experience.Check out Buddy on the Muppet Show..."Animal vs. Buddy" The Spanish intro is wierd, but the drum-off is worth it.
Swing, jazz, big band, and classic rock. My favorite band is Kansas followed by Aerosmith, but I'll listen to almost any classic rock group except for the Rolling Stones. They have about 2 or 3 decent songs, but the rest are without talent and boring. Metallica is about as crazy as I'll get. Buddy Rich is the all time best drummer in the history of music, and traditional Celtic music goes good with a dark ale or a nice whiskey.
The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur are the best for old movies. Anything with Jack Nicholson, Walter Watthau, Jack Lemmon, Jim Carrey, or Tom Hanks. The original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Amadeus and Fargo (trust me, it is both disturbing and funny). There are many more and I will add them here as they occur to me.
My top three current TV shows are "House", "House", and "House". It is absolutely THE best drama ever aired. Everything else is crap, although "American Idol" is very good entertainment after all the idiots are gone. "All in the Family" was the best sitcom ever followed by "M*A*S*H" in second place with "Seinfeld" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" in a tie for third. "Monk" on the USA network is pretty good, when I can stay awake that long.
"The Hobbit" along with the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is my favorite collection. "1984", "Animal Farm", and "The Lord of the Flies" were very interesting on a totally different plane. I would read more if I could kick this sleep apnea thing.
Buddy Rich, Joe Paterno, Dan Marino, Phil Ehart (Kansas), and John DeBella (WMGK).
