Jason and Kirk met in the Mt. San Antonio College Radio Program. Pigs In Space began as a loose jam session between Jason, Kirk and Paul Condon at Kirk's parents house in August of 1993. Kirk suggested that they invite his old high school friend Tom to join them. Jason and Paul, also long time friends, Invited Robert Johnson, a guitarist they knew, to join as well. The song So Long was written at the new band's first full jam session. After a few party gigs, it became apparent that Robert just didn't fit and he went his own way. The band then held auditions, eventually finding Mike McCuen. The band began to blossom, playing shows and building a following. It was this line-up that first entered the studio and recorded the four song demo The Big Howdy in March, 1994. Later that summer Paul decided to leave the band after getting engaged. He was replaced by another old high school friend of Tom and Kirk, Dominic Bellavia. The new line-up entered the studio in November of 1994 and recorded the band's second demo Polly Was a Parrot Martyr. The band entered its most successful era, drawing larger crowds and playing with bigger more established acts. Personal tensions led to Mike's decision to leave the band in February of 1996. The band then went through a couple of guitar players before deciding to stay a four piece group. Surprisingly, this time was the pinnacle of the band's popularity, even drawing record label attention. The band entered the studio for a third time, recording 16 tracks in March of 1997. This session produced an untitled third demo. In the summer of 1998 the band decided to once again add another guitar player. A co-worker of Tom recommended his friend Jason Pislaan. Within a few months though, lack of attendance and commitment led the band to ask Dominic to leave the group. Needing a new bass player, the band auditioned two friends, deciding on Shane Carlson, who became a fan of the band in its early days. This revamped version launched a revitalized push in the local scene. They entered the studio for a fourth time in late 1999. This session, unfortunately, produced no final product. By late 2000, it became apparent that the band had lost its drive, playing their final show in May of 2001. But you never know what may come....
