Well lets see...Im a beer. I was born in 1939 in a little town in Pennsylvania called Latrobe. The five Tito brothers, Frank, Joseph, Robert, Ralph & Anthony, needed a signature beer for theyre brewery. So they came up with me! Your so lucky. Anyhoo I was brewed in the beautiful rolling hills of Old Latrobe for the last 67 years, and have had many owners over that time. One thing the owners all have in common is that they kept me in Latrobe, where I have always been brewed with mountain spring water. Its true. Plenty of fresh creeks and streams in the area, its not just a promotional gimmick. Then one day a company called Anheuser-Busch bought my name (Rolling Rock, Rock GreenLight, Latrobe Brewing) and decided to move me to New Jersey. Now dont get me wrong I dont have any problems with Jersey, but lets face it, theres a big difference between Newark NJ and Latrobe PA. For instance, instead of moutain spring water, Ill now be made with water from a reservoir. You know those big bodies of water that animals sometimes fall into while trying to get a drink and end up drowning and then float around in for days all bloated and gross? Yep sucks dont it. But you know what really sucks? The 200 good people who worked at the Latrobe brewery who are now without jobs. Years of family tradition down the drain. Not to mention LATROBE IS ROLLING ROCK. ROLLING ROCK IS LATROBE. Now my emerald green bottle will read: Latrobe Brewing Co., St. Louis Mo. Hmmm let me get this straight. Ill be made by LATROBE Brewing Co., headquatered in ST. LOUIS MO. and brewed in NEWARK NJ. Seems kinda silly doesent it? But thats the way things go sometimes I guess. One thing is for sure, I used to have a promotional slogan; Same As It Ever Was, that surely wont be true anymore. Thanks Latrobe its been a blast, and Ill dearly miss you.Rolling Rock "33"
