This is the official MySpace profile for the grassroots organization Tsabach.
Tsabach is an acronym for the Hebrew words Tsa'ar Ba'alei Chayyim, which is the Jewish law for kindness to lesser living beings, from which such Jewish laws as shechita ( ritual slaughter, which is the quickest possible way to kill an animal and drains all the blood ) can be derived.
At Tsabach we are associated strongly with the eco-kashruth movement. Eco-kashruth involves following Judaism in ways that benefit the planet best, allowing us to live in harmony with all of G-d's creation. Some examples of our beliefs are: Cruelty during an animal's lifetime renders that animal unfit, or treifah. Genetic modification is treifah. Animal testing goes against tsa'ar ba'alei chayyim. As such, we strongly promote environmentalism and veg lifestyle ( vegetarian/vegan). All together these concepts form the ideal state of being ( Like with Adam and Eve ), but not Jewish law ( halacha ). Also, due to our promotion of compassionate living we are deeply involved with humanitarianism.
As a grassroots movement, we remain small, but hope to inspire many to the great causes. Currently the president of the organization is Mikhail Bodeau, and the vice-president is Netanyah Fineberg. I, Mikhail Bodeau, am currently working on a document in questions-and-answers formate to give everyone a better understanding of our goals and how we hope to achieve them, as well as giving halachic reasoning combined with the power of science, much in the manner of the holy Rambam zt"l. Please contact us at our e-mail, [email protected] if you have knowledge to contribute.
