Brian Vera was born on December 28, 1981 in Lubbock, Texas. He comes from a Hispanic family and has lived in Austin, Texas for more than 15 years. He attended Westwood High School and continued his education at Temple Junior College.His father, Gilbert Vera, was a 2 time IBA heavyweight champion. Brian would spend many hours at the gym watching his father train. At the age of 22 Brian started his professional career in boxing and is currently ranked #5 in the US and #11 in the world in the middleweight division.He was a participant in the TV show “The Contender†season 3 in 2007.
