I was born in Hollywood, Florida in 1971. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and North Miami listening to many different styles of music. I started playing guitar at age fourteen and the blues spoke to me. When I was old enough to drive I would take my mom to work at the hospital on the midnight shift and head to the Coconut Grove Theatre and see a double feature on Saturday nights: Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix from the D.A. Pennebaker Documentary of The Monterey Pop Festival, 1967. When I turned 17 I joined the U.S. Army as an infantryman; you'd never guess it now with my long hair. My choice of station was Monterey, California at Fort Ord. I used the GI Bill to study music and earned an Associates degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from Community College of Philadelphia. Making a living playing and teaching music has been a goal of mine since I was fifteen. I have played in many different bands over the last 10 years or so, from blues and rock to Motown, funk and R&B and I have been teaching privately for the last decade.
