Ictus / The Saxon Scoundrels

About Me

I have always loved the b-boy scene. I got into it at about 12 when I first heard the milestone track Buffalo Gals. It's still an absolute storming track. I actually remember being confused at the line "All that scratchings making me itch" and me thinking "well dont scratch yourself then". Weird what you dont know at the time! I could never break as I was too clumsy but I, along with my twin brother, was good at robotics with popping/locking mixed in of which we were asked to dance at numerous peoples' parties, weddings, school discos etc to do it. I still have a go now..only when I am drunk enough! I make tunes with my very good TALENTED friend MP3 Genius. We go under the name of The Saxon Scoundrels. We work very well together in a fashion of what I call Audio Tennis; basically, as we live in different parts of the country, one of us starts an edit mix, emails it to the other, then its backward and forward like that! We have done some pretty mad edits and have had fairly good feedback by the punters - which is nice!! I also have the honour of having the most records out so far on my mate Freddy Fresh's Howlin Records label. Freddy is a top guy. Inpsirational, extremely clever and with one of the most diverse styles in the production world - the guy is awesome and I was well chuffed he put one of my Freddy Fresh mega mixes on his Trainspotters cd. He has made me think so many times about what material to use, edits, composition, styles and production - total respect to the guy. And to get a mention in his book was totally humbling. Another amazing highlight of my music 'hobby' so far, as it aint full time, is when I got a John Peel session. I was at home listening to it and I could not believe that I was on the radio with Peely going on about how good the session was! Believe me, THAT will stay with me FOREVER! God Bless you Peely! Had a couple of tunes out now on the excellent label 33 Throwdown - DJ Dren's label (another bloody excellent cut'n'paster). Been on DJ Junk's label Second to None (say no more there - you want breaks, he's got 'em!) Also been on MZEE Records of Germany - the German hip hop label who have released some incredible tunes for the b boys!(not all by me though, lol)http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ictus+(3)Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope if anybody has heard my music on their travels that you may at like at least ONE track.Andy Ictus ;-)
