About Me

Our dear friend and founder of P-Jay "Paul G. Jakob" died on September 29th 2008. He has devoted his life to music and has influenced this band in his special way. We all miss him.
PJay make a mark on the international music scene
PJay released their sophomore album «my everything» on musicmail.de. The band fronted by Paul Jakob (Avenida Brazil, Pippo Pollina et al.) and Thom Wettstein (Loungechic Productions, Myrto et al.) cleverly concoct their own unique potion of house, trip hop, funk, acid jazz and a touch of R&B. Funky horns and guitar riffs complement electronic and handmade beats that all contribute to heavy duty booty shaking and which are sugar candy for the ears.
Story
In the summer of 2002, keyboarder and producer Paul G. Jakob founded PJ Project together with bass player Thom Wettstein and saxophonist Michael Allemand (Stinky Miller et al.). In the beginning, they started as a loose and intuitive studio trio, and as time passed by, the three comrades gradually added more musicians to finally become a full-scale live band. The first album «Subrayado» was released in May 2003, followed by a tour on the Swiss club and label night circuit (i.e. Moods, X-Tra Zurich, Tonhalle Late Zurich).
PJ Project's tracks are perfectly suitable for remixing, which is indeed a great asset for clubs. During the live gigs, the band is supported by laptop and electronica technology everything else is played live. The enormous creative potential of the team therefore turns into an exciting experience for all kinds of audiences.
The producers Paul and Thom pursue an open project which enables a variety of male and female singers as well as instrumentalists to contribute to the broad spectrum of hip musical genres which are incorporated within the framework of PJay's basic concept. The aim is to paint a palette of different colours on the soundscape canvas. Everything should remain varied and unobstructed. A permanent group tours with the magnificent front lady Caroline Chevin (Asphalt Jungle, DJ Tatana et al.).

Upon changing record companies PJay recently signed a deal with musicmail.de a new album was the latest project to be realised. «my everything» is a compilation of previously released and newly remixed songs (written by PJ Project) as well as new compositions which are strongly characterised by groove-intensive downbeat feels. The album is highly diversified due to the array of miscellaneous vocalists who participated in the production. Ivy Rentsch (Bligg, Polo Hofer, DJ Kurtis et al.), Robbie Hacaturyan (Julio Baretto, Simone Santos et al.), Sabina Stokes (Peter Ruskin, Rydemsplurt et al.), Gala Stohler (José Perez, Felipe Castellano et al.) and Caroline Chevin all succeed in lending their own personal flavour to the tracks.
Instrumentalists like Philippe Kuhn, keyboards (maag, Andra Borlo et al.), Steve Wettstein, guitars (Myrto, E.T.D. et al.), Reto von Salis, percussion (Roberto Marcano, Julinho Martins et al.) and Eddie Walker, drums (Gigi Moto, Martin Schenkel, PeeDee, RotoSphere, Betterworld et al.) also enrich the production's profound wealth of sound and grooves.
In concert, the group is a bundle of pure energy. There are two formations: the «light» version consists of vocals, keys, guitar, bass and drums and is perfectly suitable for smaller clubs and venues, whereas the «festival and big stage group» is supplemented by a horn section and percussion as well as loops and beats.

PJay is an innovative band and production conglomerate that successfully brings the house down for all parts of the body!
