About Me

Here is a quote I live by from the poem sunscreen "Don't waste your time on jealousy; Sometimes you're ahead sometimes you're behind. The race is long & in the end you're only running against yourself". I was born in Detroit Michigan at a time when Manners, Education, Style, Intellect & Class still stood for something in the Black community. Everyone is trying to get rich with no sense of social responsibility, ethics, or morals. Our healthcare & educational situation is deplorable. In some cities the salaries of the major 3-4 (hockey, football, basketball, & baseball)sports teams salaries is higher than all the teachers combined for that city. I definitely agree with Dr. Bill Cosby in what he said regarding the present state of Black Youth! Why are we letting our youth dumb themselves down by feeding them negative media images. A great example of this was seen on 11/15/2006 BET awards. I could only stomach it for about 15-20 minutes before the cooning & buffoonery finally got to me. My people There was/is a reason it was against the law to teach us to read and write previous to 1863. Our dress code in socio/professional situations is deplorable to say the least. Let's face it, we have had issues since we got to this country but since when has poverty been an excuse for a lack of social responsibility, class, & dignity in self. I have a problem with the depiction of Black women in the media. My personal opinion is that BET is one of the worst things that ever happened to Black people. Understand this; Man is a title not a name! By the way we allow Black women to be treated, by the way we allow them to disrespect themselves, By the way we treat them. We don't deserve the title "Man." Pick any year from 1985 to the present and the Black on Black death toll is higher than any ten year span of KKK terrorism during the post slavery era. We need to respect our history and heritage. I am optimistic that things will change in our community but things look to be getting worse before they get better. Remember "Live while you livin, cause you a long time dead'
