Dan Gordon

About Me

Dan Gordon spent his formative years in a logging camp in Bruce Lake, Ontario. Living with his father and learning the trade of the Gordon men. He spent his evenings sitting around the fire and listening to the other men sing songs of hardship, work, women and hope. After an incident at camp on Dan's 18th birthday he packed up and moved to the city to reconnect with his mother. Thankfully he brought those songs with himThe life that Dan breathes into his music comes from his own state of being; a simple man (steak medium rare, mushrooms, hold the onions please) who recognizes and understands the complexities of human existence. His inspiration is drawn from the goodness of a brown paper bag, the curves in a womens body, the stale scent of an overflowing ashtray and the balance he seeks between the rush of the city and the quiet of nature. He would testify that his most obvious influences come from the great Neil Young and infamous lover/fighter Hawksley Workman. Impervious to his own history Dan proudly carries the flame of his forefathers and respectfully pays tribute to them with each performance; especially those that take place underneath a gibbous moon.Dans perfect woman is his acoustic lover Jenny a steel string handcrafted, Seagull from Quebec. With a body smaller than most guitars she projects louder than others and can be found nestled lovingly against his chest and fore arm. Jenny is Dans diary. Each string carries the finger prints of a traveling, wayward man whose greatest gift is song. When you listen to Dan you are invited into his world. His song What About You seems to ask a simple question but demands a brutally honest answer. He compares his own purpose for being against that of your own. Barnyard Social is any party youve ever been to. Its recall of drunken antics that seem hilarious in the moment, but even more humorous the next day. Back In The Saddle is about stumbling into an unexpected relationship, questioning it but deciding that it is going be a alright. He even has the balls to cover the Pixies Veloria; good news, it has worked out well. Both Barnyard Social and What about you can be found on Dans upcoming five song EP, produced by Casey Marshall. Casey has worked with Billy Talent, Ian Thornley and has most recently produced Fairfields upcoming album. Thank god they both along!Perhaps the only way one can actually get to know Dan Gordon is through his music as he refuses to discuss much of himself in any manner other than song. Even then the message is buried in distracting imagery and creates and obstacle making it difficult for the listener to decipher exactly what he has experienced. A little frustrating, yesbut in all honesty thats exactly what Dan [email protected] Media and interview inquiries please contact Alicia McAllister , [email protected]
