Spirited Away & My Neighbor Totoro & Princess Mononoke), Waking Life, other Richard Linklater movies, Ghost World ["99% of humanity...you give em a pair of Nikes and a Big Mac and they're happy."], Ghost In The Shell, Napoleon Dynamite, Ferris Bueller, Fishing with Ghandi, Wes Anderson movies, Harold Lloyd movies, The Baxter, Bad Santa, W.C. Fields movies, and nature flics like Winged Migration, Microcosmos and Deep Blue (oh and, P.S.: I just made my cinematic debut dancin' like a mofo in the movie Evan Almighty!).

Charles Dickens, Edward Gorey, Daniel Clowes, quantum physics, 19th century stuff are my favorites, but I will read almost anything. I am now working on two massive tomes: The Tale of Genji (the first novel ever written...and by a woman at that!), and The Codebreakers. I'm a literary glutton. I'm also reading Beyond Good & Evil by Nietzsche folklore.
Aren't we all humans? Don't we all rank the same? Besides, heroism is more about being in the right place at the right time than being the right person. I would like to think that a LOT of people are the "right person" but most of us just haven't found ourselves in the rare situation that calls for a "hero", as they are generally recognized by other people. Maybe it's just good enough to always try to do the right thing in ANY given situation.
