JD FOXLos Angeles, CA – Americana/folk purveyor JD Fox is getting rolling with its new release “Change” and its titular title track. The group performs original music with a melodic focus that dips into the genres of rock, country, folk and Americana in general. The combination, driven by the band’s formidable talent, makes for a rich, evocative listening experience that allows the listener an intimate relationship with the inviting music. The emotive flavors of JD Fox are at top level on the titular track, which introduces the listener to the band’s music, which resonates with sincerity and spirit. The melodies readily capture an audience’s attention. The song and its sister tunes on the album touch on America’s musical roots while also finding sharp modern relevance. The CD’s appeal reaches across a wide spectrum of fandom. JD Fox is Doug Gunsch and Jacques Nosco. The songwriting team has been at it for decades. Gunsch and Nosco have been writing original songs since 1971. These two “Michigan rock-n-roll alumni” kicked off their careers in the mid-1960s and have shared the stage with the likes of Bog Seger, Ted Nugent, The Amboy Dukes, The Frost, The James Gang and Mitch Ryder. Gunsch has performed in such country-rock groups as The Mushrooms and Subterraneans with a pre-Eagles Glenn Frey. In the years spanning the 70s, 80s and 90s, the pair played various L.A. nightclubs – such as the Palomino, the Whiskey, the Troubadour, The Coral and Filthy McNasteys. Their songs have been featured on TV, in both programs and commercials. The duo’s television credits include: “A Father’s Homecoming” (1980), ABC, three songs used in performance; “World War III” (1982), mini-series background source music; “Best Kept Secrets” (1982), CBS movie of the week, source music; “Rage” (1984), movie of the week, two songs (source music); Merci Gelle, national commercial (1986), three spots featuring original material; “Welfare to Workfare” (1990), documentary, PBS, background music; and “Huff” (2004), television series from Sony Showtime, one song (source music). “Change” is the second album from the Gunsch-Nosco duo, following up JD Fox’s debut, “Suburban Lives.” The harmonies and chord changes call to mind a time of inventive soft rock and feel-good tracks such as the music of Jackson Brown, The Eagles and Tom Petty. Some of the songs on the JD Fox debut boast guitar licks from the one and only Marty Rifkin, who toured with Bruce Springsteen. Gunsch and Nosco own their own publishing company and store all their tracks separately, in order to, “have complete control over the music,” according to JD Fox. JD Fox is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
