Jesus, when feeling the heat of his battle, gives me hope. He's in the garden of Gethsemane, and even though he knows how the story is going to end; he starts being very human. He's asking God to give him another way to do this; he's asking God to let him off the hook; and he knows how the story ends. The knowledge of his impending victory isn't enough to take away the heat of the battle. Instead of singing a song, or shouting, or praising his way through, or reaching up and grabbing down a blessing; he comes out to his friends and starts going off on them for going to sleep. There was nothing they could do for him, but he wanted someone to fellowship in his suffering with him. They couldn't go to the cross, rise from the dead...nothing! He just wanted someone to be with him in the heat of his battle! He wanted someone to STAND with him.That's how we feel a lot, and it's ok. It's not demonic, it's not wrong, it's not weak...its' just being human! Why did Jesus show us these aspects of himself? I think He did because he wanted to let us know that HUMANS can serve him, not just angels. Sometimes we put this pressure on ourselves to be angels, but we have been created a little lower than them, and He loves the creation He made.-Ben McBrideI have a great desire to see the knowledge of God flood this generation.
