B-RAD, BITD

‘Back in the day when Soane was a bouncer on the door at the Box nite club and Sam Hill and Grant Kearney managed an inner city record store called 256 records. A young energentic B-rad emerged with a passion for music’I regulary frequented 256 records and became best friends with Sam and Grant a friendship that has spanned over 15 years. I was an early listener of all kinds of music genres from Hip Hop legends Public Enemy and NWA through to the funky sounds of house music that friend Rob Salmon the resident DJ at the box would play you would always find B-rad in the club “rockin to the rhythm of a groovy beat’. I became a regular icon in the Auckland scene and my networking ability was cleary evident when I became involved in promoting dance partys and selling tickets for various events Including the early Chemistry events Godskitchen,Two Tribes, Summerdayze and Deep Hard & Funky to name a few. This of course had its perks I don’t think I have paid to get in to a dance party in the last 10 years; I have always managed to blag free tickets, backstage passes from every promotor in Auckland. All of this partying can take its toll and a lot of my friends would tell you if I was not on the dancefloor or talking up a storm you would often find him holding up the bar or asleep on a comfy couch in a club with the music blaring in the background.I have been involved in various ventures over the last 10 years everything from promoting dance parties to working on the door at the more recent Mint and RnB Superclub events my passion for music will never fade.2 Years ago I celebrated my 30th b-day and a close friend of mine from back in the day Mr Dan Sing made a CD for me and on written on that cd was a few words that he said summed up the one and only B-rad :” A genuine friend, always on the crusade for the latest gears, talking 100 miles an hour,bursting with energy,always telling jokes,the life of the party when he is awake.
