Canada is not a melting pot……it’s a salad. Diverse ingredients from far and wide are routinely tossed together, often creating a brilliant mix. That’s just Canada for you.Happens all the time.Maybe that’s the only way to explain how a wilderness guide, a tuba playing small “I†industrialist, and a conservatory trained piano/clarinet player (turned vocalist-percussionist ) could end up in the same band together; (let alone the same room)……but hey-that’s just Canada. Work smart with what your dealt….and always remember, you don’t need to polish goldThat’s “the pucks†People are regularly mystified as to how such a minimally equipped band can produce so such a bright and full sound. After all, imagine arriving at a venue to see 3 microphones, an acoustic guitar on one side of the stage, a hand drum in the middle, and a string bass resting against a tuba on the other side……..you could be forgiven if you were a little worried that you might be in for a bit of a long night. But seconds into the music you realize your being immersed in a sound as big as the wilderness , yet as warm as homeWithin minutes’ you can’t help but notice remarkable range as each nugget of a song is unearthed, taking you effortlessly from the trappers cabin to the big city -sometimes sparsely wrapped in one of Cindy’s clever vocal arrangements, and sometimes with the band rockin’ lockstep with one of Lloyds industrial strength bass grooves-but always with the energy, passion, bright lyrics, and soaring vocal harmonies that have become “the pucks†trademark.Check ’em out.
