Hey! My name is Melanie, I'm 21, and I live in Vista, CA, but you probably already know all that if you're looking at my page. I'm originally from NY (Long Island and upstate), but moved to VA in my early teens (Stafford is where I consider my "hometown"). My high school sweetheart (Bryan!) and I got married January 31, 2005. At that time he had just graduated Marine Corps bootcamp, and shortly after we moved to Pensacola, FL (DON'T EVER LIVE THERE!). We were in FL for a little over a year, and then we got orders to California, so here we are. We love it here, but we plan to move back to the east coast eventually. I find great pride in my husband and in being a Marine Corps wife.
I consider myself a semi-liberal Republican. Although I would say I'm pretty conservative in my beliefs, I do support gay rights. So, I guess that would make me liberal in the eyes of a conservative Republican. However, I am STRONGLY anti-abortion (pro-life). I do tend to be pretty open-minded in most matters, and am willing to listen to whatever anyone has to say. I do stand strongly in my beliefs and what I am sure of, but I love to have deep conversations and hear other point of views. Political conversations are the best, and I try to keep up with my current events because I love to have casual debates.
I am not religious, but I would consider myself very spiritual. I find myself thinking about all of this a lot. I've concluded that it's all too complex to have just happened, but I do not relate to any religion I have currently come across. I believe in karma. I believe you should always treat others how you would like to be treated. I believe if you live an honest life, you will be rewarded, if not in some type of after-life, then in life itself. Anyway, religion is a fun subject. If you want to talk about it, let's do it, just don't push me. I am all about having conversations about religious beliefs, I love to learn about different religions, but I hate it when people try so desperately to convert me. I can make decisions for myself.
I'm a pretty educated kid. I absolutely love to learn. It's one of my greatest passions. I attended Coastal Carolina University from 2003-2004. Then I attended Palomar College from 2006-2007, where I got my AA. In the fall, I'll be transferring to CSU San Marcos, where I will major in Literature and Writing. I'm so psyched. If all goes as planned, I will graduate with my BA in December '08 or May '09. After that, I might go for a Masters or something, who knows. Either way, I never want to stop learning. I love to read, and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
I currently work for Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and I absolutely love my job. I've been there for almost a year, and I plan to continue to work there for a while. My goals for the future are to write and get published, be a high school English teacher, see the world (who doesn't want to do that?), learn as much as humanly possible (whether in a classroom or through self-teaching), and (most importantly) to be the best wife and mom I could possibly be (no, I don't have any kids yet). Family will always be #1 to me.
I love to do all sorts of different things. I spend a lot of my time working out (especially running). I love to keep my body healthy and to stay in shape. If you don't take care of yourself, nobody will. I also spend as much time as possible reading and writing, and keeping up with the news. I'm currently following the 2008 presidential election very closely. I love spending time with my husband, whether it's relaxing at home and watching DVDs, or going out someplace. We love to take roadtrips and find new things to do, and we hope to experience everything San Diego has to offer before we're outta here. We both want to travel a lot and are currently saving to take trips. It looks like we may be taking a trip to Hawaii next year, so we're planning that as best we can and getting psyched. Hopefully we're able to go. I also love Starbucks and sushi, but not together, that's pretty gross. Music is another one of my passions, I love listening to it. Lyrics are poetry. Well, that's enough about me for now. Peace out.
My Boyz: Bryan (my hubby) and Ernie (our kitty)
And this is my baby, Mocar Meyer (aka Oscar). He lives in VA still, but he's always in my heart :)
