I started playing behind Stax legends Rufus and Carla Thomas at the age of 14. I took Music Education classes at the University of Memphis before committing to a full time career as a professional musician. I quickly found myself on stage with such luminaries as Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, Chaka Khan, the Bar-Kays, Charlie Wilson, the Gap Band, Michael Cooper, Lenny Williams, ConFunkShun, Regina Belle, Miki Howard, the SOS Band, Alex Bugnon, Najee, Howard Hewett, Shalamar, Atlantic Starr, Alexander O'Neal and Cherelle, Rolls Royce, Ann Peebles, Phil Perry, Glenn Jones, Tony Terry, the Dazz Band, Miles Jaye, Wendy Moten, Ruby Wilson and Eddie Floyd. I have also been Musical Director for Tom Joyner's "United We Funk All-Stars" and the Jus' The 4 Of Us tours.In addition,I am the Memphis Chapter President of NARAS, The Grammy’s, as well as a commissioner with the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commision where I serve on the Executive Board.
If you haven't guessed yet I have my hands in all sort of professions when it comes to music. I am a songwriter, producer, arranger, programmer and musical director. From my very first recording/producing project with vocalist Larry Springfield to my work on the 2003 Grammy-nominated album by the Canton Spirituals and 2004 Grammy-nominated album by Ann Nesby. My work has earned me Gold and Platinum albums as music programmer for ACADEMY AWARD WINNING rap artists-producers THREE-6-MAFIA, Frayser Boy, and Project Pat. Other studio credits include Boney James, Michael Cooper, George Duke, Billy Preston, Angela Winbush, David Foster, Boney James, Paul Brown, Peter White, Tom Scott, the Howard University Gospel Choir, Nathan East, Paulinho de Costa, Denise LaSalle and many others.
My handiwork may also be heard on film soundtracks for "The People vs. Larry Flynt", "Apocalypse II", "Choices", “Choices†II, “The Clean Up Menâ€, "Baby Boy" and "Love Beat The Hell Outta Me". I've also appeared on the small screen on BET, on the live airwaves performing on Tom Joyner's Morning Sky Shows, and toured as Musical Director with the Shelly Garrett stage play "You're Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" starring LisaRaye (“Players Clubâ€) and Bern’edette Stanis (“Good Timesâ€).
I believe I have a good reputation but I plan to continue to forge a more rock solid reputation in the industry.
