About Me

myspace graphics & layouts Jane Williams grew up in Moruya, NSW. She picked up the guitar aged 9, and by 11 was busking at the local market. Inspired by the songs of artists ranging from Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, to Tracey Chapman and Melissa Etheridge, she was soon to develop her own distinct style of powerful vocals and honest words.By the age of 17 Jane had performed through out NSW in bands, musicals, local festivals, and as a solo acoustic artist. At 21 Jane settled Canberra. She quickly became a regular performer at venues throughout the ACT and was awarded Best Acoustic Performer at the Canberra Live Music Awards 2000.In 2003 she recorded a demo while studying at the Canberra Institute of Technology which received airplay on Canberra"s XXXFM community radio station. The Birds Song was featured on Caught in the ACT 2003 and Belly Bands 2002, both compilation CDs of local artists.During this time she also worked with singer songwriter Hannah Gillespie and Tom Jones in the folk based outfit August. The Trio played the Majors Creek, and the National Folk Festivals and performed live on 666ABC Radio.In 2004 Jane Williams made the move to Melbourne in search for new inspirations and opportunities to perfect her craft. She has played at venues including The Commercial Hotel, The Comfortable Chair, The Noise Bar, The Lobby Bar, Don't Tell Tom, The Empress, The Wesley Anne and the Cornish Arms.
