About Me

One of the most important dj's of Centroamerica's electronic scene, Costarican Electro Dj pioneer and manager of his own CLUB ONE in Costa Rica. He was born on the 28th of May 1976 in Turrialba, Cartago, Costa Rica. Central America. Casal discovered his interest for music on the late 80's because of his classmates older brothers and childhood friends. He began listening classic punk, however when time went by he discovered different styles and more electronic sounds with bands like Depeche Mode, Camouflage, Dead or Alive, Bronski Beat, Red Flag, Kraftwerk, Simple Red, just to mention a few At early 90's his liking for music make him get closer to production and began empirical playing drums, then keybords.As a musician he had the opportunity to play in some rock bands. With Umbral he organized some concerts and alternative parties after the official split of the band at the late 90's he decided to keep as a dj. In 2002 he discovered the electroclash, genere that represented a hybrid of everything he liked. At the end of 2003 he decided to show his electro proposal with dance influences to the just born electronic scene of Costa Rica. He decided not to type-cast his genere as electro and started to easily incorporate subgenera like Tribal, Progressive, Deep Tech and even mainstream club house depending on the event. By the end of 2004 Casal has his own promoter Promosonica who nowadays is trying to get to work in the foreign market. By the end of 2005 he launches www.promosonica.com the official promoter website and one of the principals electronics E-magazines in Costa Rica.Besides being a professional publicist and being a radio broadcaster, as a DJ he had the opportunity to play in the principal clubs of his country as Vertigo, Punto G, Boogie, Cafe 83 Sur, Prive, Oblique, Expresivo Lounge and Club Oh! place that bring him the confidence to position his promoter as the responsible of events and booking for three years. He mixed several times at Panama in clubes like Wasabi and Deep Room, in Honduras in clubs like Manage, Amnesia and 1201, in important festivalas like Latin American Music Conference and shared stage with the principal dj's of his country, with bands like Editus and open big international events like Ray Wilson, former vocalist of the British band Genesis. Also shared turntables with important international DJ's like Donald Glaude, Angel Alanis, Gilbert Le Funk, Barry Harris, Lenny Fontana, Felix Da Housecat, Robbie Rivera, Willie Morales, Renee Amez, Chris Fortier and Dj Rooster & Sammy Peralta on march 23th of 2007 at La Covacha, Miami for Winter Music Conference and many more. Because of his versatility for the mix he played in different important modeling events y by 2006 he had the opportunity to play in one of the most important massive events of his country: "Los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales Cartago 2006" at the Cartago stadium in front of around 10.000 people what represented one of his biggest experience as a dj and contributing for the electronic music in Costa Rica. This will help with one of his principal objectives: expand the border of the electronic music having more new people listening and fonding.

Influences: House, Garage, Latin, Disco, Electronic, Soul and Indie rock. The old school 80's was what I grew up on. Punk, New Wave which were people like Depeche Mode, New Order, kraftwerk. // I am still amazed of how much undiscovered talent is out there and I am very into anyone who creates original songs or tracks.
