Profile GeneratorA native of New York's Spanish Harlem, J. Quest (born John Raimundi) began his singing career at age ten, when he was discovered at his elementary school by a recruiter for the New York Boys Choir. After joining the choir, he toured the United States and was often featured as a show-stealing soloist. At age 15, he financed his own demo with his birthday money, recording in an old Queens studio. Luckily, his sister was dating the brother of former TKA member Tony Ortiz. When Ortiz got the tape, he introduced Quest to singer Lisa Lisa (of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam). She then hooked him up with DJ Junior Vasquez, who produced several tracks for Quest that wound up getting him signed to Mercury. His debut album, The Quest Is On..., was released in 1995, with "Anything" pulled as the first single.
