About Me

Hi Y'all, I am a producer, bass player and an actor living a blessed life on the west coast. I split time between Los Angeles, CA and Eugene, OR living the life of an artist with my awesome wife and music partner singer Shelley James. She and I are rich in the friends and family who are a part of our journey in this life. We love you Colemans, Ratzlaffs, Jensens, Escovedos, Boldens, and all!!!! Below is more about me, especially music which is very near and dear to my heart.

Cal Coleman - Bio Cal "ccMan" Coleman is a captivating electric bass player. He is also a, seasoned all around artist. Coleman has a lifetime of experience with the bass guitar, songwriting, producing, acting, recording, acrobatics, mime, counseling, and teaching. A rennaisance man, Coleman takes pride in respecting other cultures while honoring his own. Over a span of 20 years he has performed all along the West Coast, British Columbia and Hawaii, and has played in numerous styles of bands. He has acted in films, commercials, and educational videos. He has also co-written and produced CDs and live shows with his wife Pacific Northwest star Shelley James. Plus, he engineers in the studio, and live.
Coleman has performed with Sheila E., Jonathan Butler, Peter Michael,Pete Escovedo, and Andy Fraser

His professional music career started in his teens when his bass player/music director dad hired him to play bass in a jazz ensemble for a weekend long horse show with seasoned veterans. This first experience taught him about being a pro and having fun. Music in a group brings me such joy. Now based in Los Angeles with Shelley, he is currently the music director/bass player for Shelley James musicbox, the former music director/bass player at In His Presence Church in Los Angeles, CA where he has shared the stage with Sheila E., Jonathan Butler, Pete Escovedo, and William Kennedy. Coleman has been Shelley's bass player/backup singer and music director in her band m u s i c b o x since 1993. He has also backed up Andy Fraser (Free), and Mat Kearney. From 1998 - 2003, he was the bass player for the wildly popular disco band Satin Love Orchestra and stopped shows with an electrifying dance act, which includes a back flip. From 2000-2004, he was a backup singer, and keyboard player with the Pink Floyd tribute group the Floydian Slips. He also played bass in the jazzerock group Pyramid Breakfast in the early 90s.

Cal also produces, writes, and engineers live and in the studio. He programs drums, plays keyboard, and bass in the studio as well. Coleman is available in the LA area for hire for tracking, mixing, and live sound. programming, and remixes. Call 818.517.9962
