About Me

Performing Rock, Pop, Soul, And R&B since 1966. I'm an old child of the 60's. Currently a vocalist with Second Mortgage and the Sofa Kings, a 9 to 12 piece (depends on the night)60's/70's, Pop/R&B band, out of West Central Illinois. By day I play an executive director of a large not-for-profit residential facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. That gig has been happening for the past 26 years.Family, people, business, performing, and music have been my passions for as long as I can remember. You might think that they don't go together, but I've always found they go together quite well. When I work, music plays continuously in my head. I hear an arrangement or a hook, or an interesting rhythm pattern almost all the time. When I play, thoughts of work are always there, different patterns of people, resources, places, and time; how I'm I going to solve that problem or accomplish that goal?I think one of the best things in this world is harmony, and I'm happiest when I find harmony in my family, my work, or my music.I'm a father of three, and a husband of one. All three of my children are talented in music and have performed in their own bands. My wife and I share a love of teaching and caring for people with disabilities and have each obtained higher eduacation degrees is this area. I'm surrounded by a family that shares my passions, bringing me great joy.In the last year I have been active with the Toastmasters International. I am currently president of the local Galesburg club, the Orpheum Orators. I am also the area 20 Governor. If you have an interest in public speaking or maybe you'd do anything not to have to do it, send me a message. I'd love to share my interest with you or help you find your voice.
