TIGHT'S BIO
Courtney Davis, (T.I.G.H.T) CEO of Parlayas Records and part of the Parlaya family and Yung Pride Entertainment, gained the love for music in the mid 80s. Buying and recalling the early hip-hop artist lyrics like Geto Boys, KRS-One, and Public Enemy has given Courtney a firm background in rap styles. Coming up during these times it was 50/50, 50% of time you were going to do the right thing. The other half you were going to do the wrong thing. He played on both sides of da streets right and wrong. Courtney grew up in Houston, Texas, where he still resides he is the oldest of 3 by mother and 5 by father. He pursued a rap career starting in 1996 hooking up with a few of his childhood friends and a cousin (Mike, Ju, Ed, and Ray). Also got into the Dj scene mixing at parties and making mix tapes. They referred to themselves as the Parlayas during these times. As time passed the group became more serious performing in front of crowds at local clubs Just Jokin, Club Riddles, and C 2000. The business nature is one minute everything is good the next everything is bad. In Courtneys opinion, Its what you make it, the sky is the limit and we have come this far to quit now. Eight years and counting somethings gotta jump off. I can go on all day and night about myself, so to make a long story short, Just check me out.PHRESH'S BIO
Born in East Texas DJ Phresh moved to Houston at age 10. Break dancing before and after school in elementary is where DJ Phresh go his first taste of performing in front of crowds. Later in High School is when I got a chance to pick up a microphone entering school talent shows. Working with two classmates we created the group Phonetics where I picked up the name Mic Presh. Influenced by such groups as Leaders of the New School, Tribe Called Quest, Souls of Mischief, and De La Soul we began writing and performing songs around Houston. In an affort to be innovative Phonetics attempted to be a rap group who played live instruments. Not having any musical training I became the DJ of the group. Phonetics didnt last long after High School but I continured to be a local DJ. In an attempt to break into the mis-tape scene I met TIGHT and Ray through Big Ju that I knew from High School.STUD'S BIO
