..Hello, My name is Elvis Presley,I was born in the small cotton town of Tupelo Mississippi in 1935. My late Grandmother lived next door. We lived there until i was about 12 yrs. old or so. In 1940, when I was 5 yrs. old, my father was sent to Parchment Prison in Misissippi for forging a phoney check for some fool. In 1948, after losing job after job in Tupelo, we packed up and moved to memphis where my mamma worked as nurse's ade, and my daddy got employed by Percision Tool & Dye. I attended Humes High school. Guess what I majored in?...Music right? WRONG...woodshop! Ironic aint it? I failed music and wasn't even allowed to join the Glee Club. How bout that? I got a job as a movie theatre usher, then I worked as a delivery truck driver for a Memphis electric company called Crown Electric. One day while working for Crown, I entered a small recording studio, SUN Records and met a very nice man by the name of Sam Phillips. I made a record for my mamma's birthday. About a year and a half later, i got a call out of the blue from Sam Phillips' secratary Marian saying that they wanted me to come back and record the flip side of the record. The song I recorded for my Mamma was my version of the old Athur Crudup Blues number That's Allright Mamma. I went back and recorded the flip side, Good Rockin' Tonight. I made ABOUT 26 records for SUN. Some other famous singers that came out of SUN Records are Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins ( The original singer of Blue Suade Shoes ), among others. In December 1955, Sam Phillips thought i was getting to be too big a name, and sold my recording contract to RCA. I officially started recording with RCA Victor in January 1956. That first session yealded some of the songs people still enjoy to this day, such as Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, That's When Your Heartaches Begin, Blue Suade Shoes, among others. I appeared several times on Ed Sullivan's show, Miltin Burle, as well as Steve Allen. I guess you know the wrest of the story.
