I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Since I'm not a bar-scene kind of guy, two of the limited choices I have left are: Get a MySpace profile or join some weird black Nike sneaker and/or sweatsuit wearing UFO cult. The jury is still out on which is the lesser evil: With UFO Cults you'll find that Nikes and designer sweatsuits are expensive and I'm also not a big fan of the "special" Kool-Aid they serve on "Comet Night". On the other hand, MySpace is free but there are thousands of strangely similar-sounding people with suspicious netcode and links to weird URLs wanting to be my friend without ever even looking at my profile. However, it's only a short commute to my computer, and I don't have to wear a black Nike training suit or a plastic bag on my head. Based on those criteria, I'm doing the "MySpace Thing" until I get my next website up and running or there is definitive proof that comets are the home of God.

RANDOM SONG LYRIC OF THE WEEK
When we were in love, I pretended you didn't exist.
That way I loved you more.
You suggested we get married and move into a house.
I suggested that we jump overboard,
And live underwater in the Lost City of Atlantis.
Where mermaids sing,
And tuxedoed dolphins bring you breakfast...
One year later, I was transfered to the moon.
Worse pay, better hours.
I was transfered to the moon.
Worse pay, better fellow workers.
I built our love out of blood.
I went to the dentist and told him "take out my heart"!
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now.
I feel better than James Brown.
I was attending Mardi Gras with Fidel Castro.
Bucksome cross dressers threw fake gold coins at our feet
As we discussed the fate of the Revolution.
Suddenly, CIA men dressed in bikinis
Tried to stab us with fountain pens.
Fidel blew mustard gas through his cigar,
And immobilized the lot of them...
19 tequilas later we had a deal:
Havana goes back to the mob,
And Fidel and I open a chain of Kentucky Fried Chicken shops.
Ain't life sweet? I feel good.
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now.
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now, how do you feel?
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now.
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now.
I feel better than James Brown.
I feel better now, how do you feel

My Interests

IF THIS PAGE LOOKS LIKE SHIT IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT USING FIREFOX!!!

If this page loads slow, invest in a broadband pipe!

I am what I am, take it or leave it. I have always been my own person, for good or bad. I'm intelligent, witty, and have an off-kilter sense of humor that keeps people laughing all the time. I tend to be innately curious about things, having never lost my "sense of wonder" from things microscopic to macroscopic - if I find anything I don't know about, I'll look it up just so I know. I am probably too honest for my own good - that has its downsides too. I live by a very strict set of internal rules. I'm opinionated about subjects I have knowledge of, am willing to learn about ones I don't, and not afraid to admit I'm wrong about something. I like catching small venue live band shows in NYC, learning stuff on teh Intartubes, gaming, listening to my vast music collection, playing around with creative stuff. YES, I do all my own artwork on this page, with the exception of album and book covers. I take pictures. I sketch. I Photoshop and mess with HTML. I do okay for a guy with no art training whatsoever.

I'd like to meet:

General Things About People I'd Like To Meet (4 or more wins!) People who enjoy writing, reading, and discussing non-linear abstractions. People who are intelligent or creative ("artistic"), and won't bore me to tears with rehashed details of the latest sporting event or sitcom episode. Tell me about a neat rock you saw - that's more interesting. People with similar interests in music, movies, microcode, and high-speed pizza delivery. People who would be fun to hit a concert or movie with. People who aren't completely adverse to gaming. I'm not a bar person, this is one of my forms of entertainment. People who decide suddenly they want to go to a museum, watch a building implosion, or check out some wierdness somewhere. I'll take "down to earth" over "snob" any day of the week. That applies to pseudo-intellectuals as well. People with a good and varied sense of humor. From Monty Python to stuff that's just a wee bit more subtle. I prefer clever over raunchy humor, but whether its cynical or silly doesn't matter. People with a modicum of common sense. Just a little, I'm not asking much. Really. Obviously, some grasp of technology would be nice. Otherwise you'll just be doing the deer-in-headlights stare a lot when I go off on a rant. It's okay to tell me to shut up at that point. People who can back their opinions with some facts. People who don't argue for the sake of argument.Famous Dead People I'd Like To Hang With

Albert Einstein - Overall genius, clever, and a playa to boot. Clarence "Kelly" Johnson - Founder and iron-fisted ruler of the Skunk Works. Engineering genius who wasn't afraid to think outside a certain box. Issac Asimov - A true Renaissance Man. Overall genius, and one of the most witty conversationalists to ever live. Winston Churchill - Curmudgeon and pillar. Born in a bathroom. Good role model. Benjamin Franklin - Thought the Wild Turkey would be a better national bird. He might have been right. It would be nice to have more like him these days. Hedy Lamarr - Sexy (back in the day), smart (invented frequency hopping spread spectrum), and stylish. L. Ron Hubbard - Just to bitch-slap his fraudulent ass around. George Patton - Military genius, irascible son-of-a-bitch, crazy as hips on a snake. Robert A. Heinlein - Another genius, rounds out my dinner table nicely. Nikolai Tesla - Would be able to provide the effects for my next rave-party, and had a freakin' DEATH RAY! Genghis Khan - A very, very large proportion of the world's population are descendents of his. Conquered most of the world, and still lived in a tent. Died happy.
Women YES!I like women who are intelligent and fun to speak with and listen to. I like women with a quirky sense of humor. I enjoy making them laugh, and being "goofy" together. I like women with a sense of style. Their own, preferably. This applies to more than clothing. Very few women (these days) step outside the bounds of their catalogs, it's nice to see some individuality. I would enjoy meeting a woman whose vast media collection would overlap and merge well with mine - in other words, it would be nice to know someone who likes the same movies and music as me and doesn't mind digital formatting. I quite probably require some domestication, so lots of patience is pretty much a requirement. A bat upside my head would probably help. I'm fairly tame though. I like women who say what's on their mind rather than obfuscate it. I'm a male, and we don't always understand "subtle". Yes means yes, and maybe doesn't mean no. I like women who don't think that wearing a sweatsuit publicly for non-excercise purposes is acceptable. It's not. I'll admit to a weakness liking for former Punk Rock Girls, Riot Grrls, Emo Chicks (the look, not the whining) and adore "Artistic" Types, Nerds and Geeky Scientists. Or wannabes. Whatever works. I like those types of women because A). THEY RAWK! and B). The odds are better that our taste in music, books, and movies are similar. Hair: Yes, please. In order: Raven, Brunette, Redhead, Rainbow Brite, Blonde, Fake Blonde. Egads.

Music:

I love my music collection, and I'm always seeking to acquire more. I listen to (in no particular order):

Old-School Punk, Funk, Shoegaze, New Wave, Hardcore Punk, '80s Alternative, Zydeco, J-Pop, Underground Indie, Grebo, Ska, Indie, Alt-Folk, Grunge, Pop-Punk, J-Rock, 3rd Wave, Rockabilly, Reggae, Disco, Grime, Dub, Down-Beat, Post-Punk, Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Blues, Power-Pop, Psychobilly, Electronica, Soul, House, Jazz, Noise-Rock, Old-School Rap -- various combinations thereof and whatever else grabs my attention.

My CD collection is around ~999 discs and ~14580+ individual tracks at this point and growing. I prefer seeing little-known (but excellent) bands in small-venue settings rather than big-name sellouts at "concerts".
