Ebanie Rebekah...

Ebanie Rebekah began singing at the age of 7 when her mother made her enter a singing competition on ‘Power Jam’ pirate radio station, in order to win a free CD from Sugar Dread.
“I did not realize it was Ebanie who was singing on the radio as I was still waiting for her to go on air. When I realized it was her, I started crying because she was so good” recalls her mother. “I was listening to the young person singing on the radio and I called Ebanie to come and listen because this person was so good. When Ebanie did not come, I went to find her and that’s when I realized that the person singing on the radio was her.” Ebanie won that competition after singing “Tease Me” by Chaka Demus and Pliers.
She first wanted to pursue singing as a career after watching the video for “Before You Walk Out My Life” by Monica. “In the video Monica was singing whilst sitting on the roof of her house, and me being so young and not knowing what I know now, thought that looked easy and I could do that” remembers Ebanie, laughing.
Since then, Ebanie’s singing has gone from strength to strength. She has faced her fair share of negative elements, but she always manages to overcome them.
Her passion for music is so raw and she would like to know as much of the music business as possible.
Besides her exceptional singing ability, Ebanie is an accomplished lyricist which can be depicted from her song “This Is My Life”. This song was a runner up (out of four and a half thousand entries from more than fifty different countries) in the 2004 Unisong International Song Contest.
Ebanie is currently in the studio writing and recording. On completion, she is hoping to do more live shows, at as many places as possible. In February 2008, Ebanie was in the first UK stage production of “Dream Girls”. The characters that she played were Joann and the fourth Dream Girl, Michelle.
Ebanie has performed at various venues including, Opium, Z- Bar, Plan B, The Orange Club, 2004 and 2007 UK Unsigned, Live and Unsigned, The Concorde, The Peel, People’s Social Centre, Selsdon High School, Granaries Night Club, Illusions Night Club.
If there is ever a chance for Ebanie to perform she will do it!!
