I sing because I'm happy...

About Me

Born and raised along the shores of the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, Amelia McMahon made her way to Montreal in 1999 where she recieved a Bachelor of Music at McGill University. Enchanted by the city, she now calls Montreal her home.
As a performing artist, Amelia has graced many local and international stages as a soloist and chorister in many diverse musical styles and settings. She has been a member of the international award winning choirs Concerto Della Donna , directed by Iwan Edwards and Effusion A Cappella . Along with her solo projects, she is currently singing with Ardesco , a professional a cappella group and La Ceilagh , a chamber choir that specializes in Canadian contemporary music.
As a teacher, Amelia passes the joy of singing to her private students at the McGill Conservatory of Music and joined the jazz faculty at McGill University in 2006/7 as the director of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
With appearances on 5 albums to her credit, Amelia’s voice can most recently be heard on Joel Miller's critically acclaimed album "Tantramar" which was released in November, 2007. Currently in the mixing stages but coming soon will be Ardesco’s debut album on which Amelia is featured as group member, soloist and arranger.
Always eager to expand her musical sphere of experience and artistry, Amelia is always happy to hear from you about projects on stage, in the studio, or as a voice coach!
