About Me

This is the official LucyFire myspace page. This page is maintained by friends of the band and fans of the band (if you wanna contact any LucyFire or Tiamat member directly, please check myspace.com/tiamat and follow the link to your favourite member.). Soon we'll let you pierce that cyber toothpick straight into the sweet cocktail berry and further into the juicy flesh of our tasty canapés that are the new LucyFire songs. Rumours say that the new songs are more aggressive and more political (more Nietzsche than 9/11 rumours say) than the debut, that Tiamat drummer Lars Sköld will produce the album, that a video interview with Johan will be up in a short time. Help us spread the LucyFire name! Thank you! We love you!
-LucyFire is the sideproject of Tiamat slacker Johan Edlund. Born on the chilly German morning that was the sixth of June 1999 (they'd promised sunshine but it was pouring down and the skies were bible black).
-LucyFire will play for food.
-LucyFire recorded two (and a half) demos (called demo 1, demo 2 and demo half) before signing to SPV. The contract was signed in lightbrown feces that had to be mixed with water to run smoothly through the Mont Blanc ballpen. It still stinks and doesn't write very good either.
-The debut album "This Dollar Saved My Life At Whitehorse" (released in 2001) was produced by Tiamat producer Dirk "Diggler" Draeger and among the gifted musicians appearing on the album, you'll find drummer Bertram Engel who has played with Robert Palmer and Bruce Springsteen (that blond guy in the Hungry Hearts video).
-The album was completed in Woodhouse Studios, Hafenklang in Hamburg and PUK in Denmark where Depeche Mode recorded some of their best songs, and was pre-produced in Johan's Studio Wildhoney where he'd just finished remixing duties for London After Midnight, Rammstein & Lacrimosa.
-LucyFire will play for food.
- The album was named after a famous Carl Barks painting of Uncle Scrooge bragging over his first hard-earned buck. Rumours has it that the first thing Johan did when he received the advance payment from the record company was to buy one silver dollar which is still the amulet and lucky coin of not only the band but his life in general.
-A videoclip for "The Pain Song" was shot outside L.A. (at an infamous spot where Terminator 2 had been shot) and in Las Vegas by Hollywood company Planet Inc., who were recruiting a crew that had just been working on Cuba crisis joke "13 Days", starring Kevin Costner. In Las Vegas the film team was helped by the Vegas police forces as an officer lended his headlights to light up the "welcome to fabulous Las Vegas" sign. The legend tells that Johan was already drunk at the time.
-...and that he almost missed his flight back to L.A. as quarter dollar coins literally came pouring over him from an airport slot machine and one of his hands was superglued to a frosted Corona with lime. With 120 dollars worth in quarters (uh, dude... that's like sevenhundred coins or something, uh...) wrapped in his sweaty shirt he ran to the gate and spent most of the money on sloppy SouthWest Airlines Bloody Marys with no steak sauce, nor Tabasco. Not very bloody then.
-The debut album begins with the words "Come on" and ends with "Don't be afraid". Some day, somebody will have something clever to say about that. Somebody who actually bought the disaster!
-LucyFire has only performed live once, at the Mera Luna festival in 2001. The band was spiced up by prominent (and sometimes naked) divas such as Tiamat bassist Anders Iwers on rhythm guitar, Eric Frster (ex-Kingdom Come) on lead guitar, Martin of Dark Tranquillity on keys, and the lovely Cristina (see, no H) Scabbia of Lacuna Coil taking great care of the female vocal parts.
-The song "Automatic" added a gloomy mood to the movie Nick Knatterton, starring pornqueen Gina Wild. Unfortunately the movie never went to the cinemas due to the fact that it was a kids movie... With pornstars and perverted music about crucifix-shaped buttplugs.
-LucyFire will play for food.
-During the promotion trip around Europe, Johan was drinking cognac (VSOP) in the business class lounge at Paris Charles Du Gaulle next to Tom Jones (yep!), and was very close to be arrested in Stockholm as his cabdriver tried to ram the barricades that had been set up in front of his hotel. Johan's room was searched twice by the Swedish secret services and the taxidriver was sent straight to Gulag. The reason for this? Vladimir Putin (aka Karate Kid) and Tony (Rockin' Tony) Blair stayed at the same hotel that night, attending a G8 (might have been G7 at the time... or G6... G5??) meeting in the neighbouring National Museum of Arts.
-Rumours say that "that" silver dollar is the only cash Johan has left from the LucyFire moneymaking machine, which makes us all believe in - and hope for - a new LucyFire album quite soon. Guy's gotta eat!
-In fact he already started... Guy's hungry! Grrr...
