About Me

Who is Clarabella?
I am a poet, an artist and a copywriter. I write full-time for a London publisher, create poetry in my spare time and paint the pictures you can see on my profile below. What else? I a sweet, happy person with a glint in my eye and a wiggle in my walk. I love music, dancing, dreaming, laughing, bright colours and dancing outside in the sunshine. I also like to ride my trusty bicycle, Sir Galahad, listen to Stevie Wonder first thing in the morning, and wander off into weird and wonderful situations.
I am an indiscreet sensualist and a bit of a blabbermouth. I am inclined to dream grandiose dreams. One day I will have a camper van and drive away to a big blue coastline with red flowers and white walls. I love travelling, and have been to Central America, Brazil and Africa. I want to see more of the world. I would like to go to the Burning Man Festival one day.
My favourite thing in the whole world is beautiful bright colours. Having these around me sustains me every day and hour of my life.
I am a top class ranter with an opinion on everything. Laugh at me but don't cross me!! In spite of many disappointments, I believe in true love and the power of dreaming immoderate dreams. I am egocentric and occasionally ruthless, and I never listen to anyone, but I am so charming that you will love me anyway!

Random days round town...

My birthday party flyer from a couple of years ago, at the height of my talents with Photoshop and Lego.
Aw... this baby goat is oh so cute!!
I like goats and donkeys too!
Nice little thought for the day!
What Your Soul Really Looks Like
You are a wanderer. You constantly long for a new adventure, challenge, or eve a completely different life.
You are a grounded person, but you also leave room for imagination and dreams. You feet may be on the ground, but you're head is in the clouds.
You believe that people see you as larger than life and important. While this is true, they also think you're a bit full of yourself.
Your near future is likely to be filled with great successes and accomplishments. You just need to figure out how to get there.
For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust. Inside the Room of Your Soul
You Are 24% Lady
You tend to make up your rules of etiquette, throwing all conventions aside.
And while you try to be a lady (sometimes), your behavior is often quite shocking. Are You A Lady?
Which Tarot Card Are You?
You are the Chariot card. The Chariot has the energy to succeed. Their ambition and drive leads them into competition, and they often come out the victor. The fast-paced energy of the chariot is met with the ability to control and lead. The Charioteer's leadership is not authoritarian but rather an attempt to bring their team to victory. The Charioteer can be obedient to those who have proven themselves in a position of leadership. Physical prowess and activity are important to the meaning of this card. Travel is found here as a journey of personal growth. Moving from one point to another in attempt to find a better place may be taken both literally and as a metaphor for the inner self.

The Horse

According to shamanistic wisdom, the horse is first and foremost a free spirit, despite being enslaved by humans for thousands of years. Horse people tend to hate being told what to do, but do what they need to do anyway, without complaint or anger. Read more ...

My Art Gallery

Until New Year 2005/2006 I hadn't painted since my GCSE course at school, but in the winter of 2005 my lil' bro gave me some paints as an Xmas present and I took up painting again. I'm a REALLY slow painter which is frustrating, but I LOVE the sensation of producing new pieces after so much time off. Here you can see some of my new works in acrylic as well as the original poster paint pieces from my school days which are getting more antique by the minute! Enjoy!

Midnight Ceremony
Acrylic on canvas, 2009, 24 x 30"

Snowy Games
Acrylic on canvas, 2009, 16 x 20"

"Carnival Day"
Acrylic on canvas, 2008, 24 x 20"

"Sublime Creation"
Acrylic on canvas 2008, 19.5" square
I named this after a Global Communication track which I was listening to when I painted it but it also has a less pretentious subtitle: "In Dreams"

"Wonderland"
Acrylic on wood board, 2007, 8 x 6"
My first and so far only attempt at painting on wood. It's harder to get the paint moving and lay it flat, but it does have a kind of light behind the paint which reminds me of stained glass.

"In the light of the miracle"
Acrylic on canvas, 2007, 8 x 10"
It looks big but it's really teeny-weeny!

"Oh wild girl..."
Acrylic on canvas, 2007, 12 x 9"

A Night at the Co-Op
Acrylic on canvas, 2007, 20 x 16"

Late arrival, Midnight Sun
Acrylic on canvas, 2007, 14 x 18"

Midnight sun
Acrylic on canvas, 2007, 14 x 18".
I couldn't decide which version I preferred so I did it both ways

¡Vamos al mercado!
Acrylic on canvas, 2006/2007, 16 x 20"

Yee-hah!
Acrylic on canvas, 2006, 18 x 14"

Terra
Acrylic on canvas, 2006, 14 x 18"

Inspired by Chiapas
Acrylic on canvas, 2006, 16 x 12"
Based on Mexican landscapes that I saw while travelling.
The first picture I finished with my new paints!

"The Destroyer"
Acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, 2008
I only do happy pictures. This is the exception.

Movement
Poster paint on paper, 1992.
This is antique: I just don't get time to do this kind of thing these days!

Frustration.
Poster paint on paper, 1992. One from my grumpy teenage years
Thank god I don't feel like this anymore!

The view through my window
Poster paint and collage on paper, 1992. Another teen effort...

Untitled
A variation on a still life scene we did at school. It's really old: I was only about 13. If you look in the left hand corner you can see one of my erstwhile heroes, Slash from Guns n Roses! Erk!
Poster paint on paper, circa 1990

Untitled
Another variation on the same theme though the colours have come out a bit weak on the pic. God knows what was going through my mind!
Poster paint on paper, circa 1990

Cosmic
Poster paint on paper, 1990? This is really old... I think I did it when I was about 13
