About Me

Booty for breakfast?
Maybe not for everyone, but Booty dishes "it" out whether people want it or not. And because of that, no one forgets his name or his rock' n' roll panache. Booty for Breakfast was Booty's daily morning radio show on Middle Tennessee State University's WMTS. He used the radio show to develop his microphone persona and his irreverent style to make audiences remember it. But that's not Booty's only foray into the music business. While thousands of college students woke up to his voice every morning, he now considers that only a notch on his bass case. Today Booty spends his time in another place.
On stage the DJ-turned-bass player puts his bass where his mouth was, that is front, center and plugged into the largest medium he can find.
"It's important to sell what you're playing," says Booty of his bass playing philosophy. "Even if I am only playing one note, it is important to me to make the audience feel like that is the BEST note they've ever heard."
"Bass players I admire are the ones who know when to play and more importantly, know when not to play," says the 10-year veteran musician.
Booty offers Van Halen's Michael Anthony and KISS's Gene Simmons as examples.
"Anthony is known for his simple bass lines," explains Booty. "In conjunction with Eddie's guitar parts, they were appropriate for what needed to be played.
"And Gene Simmons from Kiss," he continues. "I'm not a huge fan of the band, but he looks cool even if he's just riding the E string. That, for me, is just as important live as playing lots of super complicated parts."
So for those who may not have figured it out yet, Booty loves to rock and is all about the show.
"Some people get satisfaction from playing the greatest solo's every night in their bedroom," he exclaims. "I would rather be out there every night playing 'Free Bird' and having people rock along with me."
