Phat Mo's autobiographical style is fused with the hip hop energy and different styles of music to create a unique sound. This Somali rapper loves to add humour and sarcasm to most, if not all, of his songs. The ironies of life, love and friends are the focal themes to Phat Mo's music.In the debut album “Sorry I’m Late Traffic Was A Bit**!” Phat Mo highlights the ups and downs of life, friendship, love and money. The album’s title signifies the rise over obstacles to get to this point in his musical career. The album will be completed November/December 2006 with a release planned for end 2006/early 2007. Currently working with local producers Phat Mo’s debut collaboration with MadMan titled “OH!” entered the radio request chart at number 3. A mere 48 hours later, OH! became the 1 most requested song on 104.1 Radio 1’s request show. Soon after that the song was given a heavier rotation throughout the day and in prime time. OH! was also played on 104.8 Channel4FM on the Drive Time Show and received a huge positive response from the listeners. Dubai92’s DJ Flex also spins this track on his Hip-Hop show Wednesday nights. Phat Mo and Madman’s sophomore collaboration “We Got This” reached the 2 spot on Radio 1’s Nokia Request Show. The two songs garnered Phat Mo a following within the radio listeners in the UAE. The songs continue to be played on the UAE’s airwaves. Phat Mo’s third song “In Dubai” has taken the UAE airwaves and clubs by storm. The song is on heavy rotation on 104.1’s Radio 1 and is played in Dubai’s favourite night spots including Madinat Jumeirah’s Trilogy.Phat Mo is presently discussing releasing his album with a major international record label.Born Mohamed Youssouf to a Somali mother and a Djibouti father Phat Mo grew up in Dubai and has been living there for 24 years now. Having performed at Dubai clubs Carter’s, Rock Bottom, and Amnesia (opened for MTV Base’s Trevor Nelson) and previous Battle of The Bands, Phat Mo has made a name for himself as Dubai’s quintessential rapper. A versatile artist with a passion for everything and anything that is related to music, Phat Mo has also worked with Bandish Projekt on the release of their debut single Bhor; the song that landed Bandish Projekt a record deal with Universal India Ltd. Phat Mo also worked with Emirati singer and Rotana Music recording artist Samar on her debut album recording a latin-hiphop fusion Arabic song with Phat Mo rapping in English.So after learning from and working with a variety of artists and producers, Phat Mo believes it is time to give the world a bit ‘MO. The music genres featured in Phat Mo’s debut album include jazz, hip hop, R&B, Arabic (Lebanese & Emirati), experimental, rock, and house. The album promises to make you laugh, love, and live and get your butt on the dance floor!Phat Mo has performed in Dubai’s Carter’s Bar, Rock Bottom Café and opened for Reggae Superstar Sean Paul this December 15, 2006 performing his hits for a crowd of 6,000 and superstar 50Cent at Dubai Media City with almost double the attendance.
