Carol Moog Band

About Me

The musical heart of the band, harmonica player Carol Moog is known to be a "huge sound in a small package." Moog played for many years before launching and performing with the No Alibi Blues band. With vocalist Zan Gardner, the band quickly developed a loyal following at some of the areas top music venues. Beginning in 1987, Moog continued to play with what became the original Zan Gardner Blues Band. The high energy blues and funk band appeared with such legends as John Lee Hooker, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers, Leon Russell/Edgar Winter, John Mayall and Roy Buchanan.
In her exceptional acoustic performances, Moog has appeared with such notables as Saffire, Ronnie Earl, Guy Davis, Kelly Joe Phelps and John Hammond.
Moog's musical influences are varied and include Sonny Terry, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Paul Butterfield, Hank Crawford, Fats Domino, Mose Allison, Muddy Waters, Dinah Washington and James Cotton.
Over the years, Moog has played Riverblues, Mellon Jazz Festival, Tremblant International Blues Festival, corporate events such as QVC's Pioneer Studios opening, the Philly Gold Awards, and the Philly Fringe Festival. Locally, she plays at many of Philadelphia's finest music rooms, such as Warmdaddy's, Tin Angel and World Cafe Live.
Whether playing as a duo, trio or full band (including drums), Carol Moog on harmonica, with Don Evans on guitar and vocals, consistently draws in crowds with fiery and soulful blues, R&B, funk and jazz-influenced music. With performance credits that read like a Who's Who of Rock and Roll, Don Evans' stage time includes years playing and recording with Billy Joel, Dirk Hamilton, and Eric Burdon of the Animals' fame. He has appeared on countless studio tracks both as a guitar player and vocalist. The variety of his influences generates a creative and diverse sound and repertoire, ranging from a tender ballad to the full force of rocking blues.
For the very best in traditional blues, classic R&B, swing and jazz, Moog often does acoustic work with longstanding duo partner Randy Lippincott, in addition to Delta great Garry Cogdell, bassist Lenny Fatigati or Charlie Hilbert. Highly experienced, professional musicians, all are skilled in tailoring their sound to fit the needs of a venue, whether for volume level, musical selections, listening or dancing.
