The original Loveshine both formed and disbanded over 8 years ago. Originally the product of a songwriting partnership, Loveshine became a live entity in mid 1997. Borrowing tips form their favorite Power Pop influences like Cheap Trick and Enuff Z'nuff, melding in some favorite parts of the Beatles and Jellyfish and sprinkling the top with 60's and 70's kickback sounds and styles, Loveshine gained a reputation in it's home of Central Illinois for strong material and dynamic performances. The post-grunge days just prior to the birth of Nu-metal and it's Trple-rectified saturation and cookie monster mumblings were hardly a place for a band covering "Penny Lane" live or shelling out tunes about grasshoppers and space girls. But Loveshine managed to make it work, earned a rare spot in Central Illinois most prestigius clubs (rare for a band playing over 50% original material) and often found itself sandwiched on live bills between more accessible metal acts. The song, "Mr. V" (available on this site) was featured on a compilation cd produced by Jellyfish fans from around the country. After hammering away for months working to create a grass roots following who always seemed to be out to pasture...Loveshine decided to move on, in different directions. Some going on to successful original projects of their own...others using the experience and contacts they earned to form popular cover bands. But the songs are still there. Waiting for a proper treatment from loving hands.
