I'm a Christian college student from North Carolina, and I've been composing music for two years now. I'm primarily a fiction writer, though, and most of the music I write is for the purpose of inspiring more creative thought. I make music for many genres.I believe that it is the tune that makes it a song. If there's no definite tune present, it's only a beat.
