'A woman drove me to drink and I didn't even have the decency to thank her' - W.C. Fields.

About Me

I was born and raised in the coal fields of southern West Virginia - with any luck I'll die here too. I graduated from Mount View High School in Welch, WV in 1996 and went straight into Bluefield State College; never actually got a degree from there though - I had to drop out because of work. I'm back in school now to try and remedy that. The biggest thing I got out of Bluefield State was the work I did with student government and helping to found my fraternity; it might've hurt my GPA but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world!

I am a terrible insomniac, so don't be surprised if you see me online at crazy times. I've found the only way to consistently sleep at night like a normal person is to drink every night - so, it's a choice between insomnia and alcoholism. I'm sort of approaching it from a 50/50 perspective (drink often but not every night); ultimately, my liver will thank me. Plus, I sometimes get weird bursts of inspiration and end up writing throughout the night and into the next morning; I can't really explain it, but if I fight it off and force myself to go to bed, I have no way of predicting when it will return... as a result, I've sort of trained myself to just go with it. Then again, it saying I'm online doesn't necessarily mean I'm really there at all - I often leave Myspace logged-in throughout the day whether I'm around or not, so just message me and if I'm there I'll answer.

My Interests

You are visitor number to visit my space!!!

A shameless plug for one of my all-time favorite sites!!!

Music:

I love *almost* all music as long as it is impassioned, the artist has to *really* feel it before I can. Genre doesn’t matter to me; if it’s good, I’ll jam to it! ;-)

Movies:

I am a movie freak! I love them all, but prefer epics/dramas. Some of my favorites are Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (still anxiously awaiting the day someone puts Feist's works on the big screen!), Ray, Platoon, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, Walk the Line, Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, Flight 93, 300, Disturbia, Breach, World Trade Center, We Were Soldiers, The Lion In Winter, To Kill A Mockingbird, the Godfather series, etc.

Television:

The West Wing (RIP), the Unit, 24, ER, Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, all the CSIs and Law and Order shows, South Park (yeah, I still watch it), the Sopranos (RIP), Deadwood (RIP), Entourage, Big Love, Rome (RIP), My Name is Earl, TNA: Impact, Monk, Medium, the 4400 and Battlestar Galactica (arguably the best drama on TV - I know it sounds crazy, but it's true; read the reviews). Also, I love just about anything on the History Channel, especially Digging for the Truth and History's Mysteries. I'm a big time documentary nerd - Ken Burns rocks!

Books:

Just about anything, but mostly fiction for fun - a lot of Medieval Fantasy (I guess it’s actually considered Sci-Fi/Fantasy these days); Raymond E. Feist is King, second only to Tolkien! I make it a point to reread Feist and Tolkien once every year, usually in the summer. Other fantasy authors whose work I admire are R.A. Salvatore, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Greg Keyes, Terry Brooks, David Eddings, and Janny Wurtz. I also enjoy political thrillers, i.e. Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn as well as the dark musings of Stephen King and Anne Rice. When not immersed in some fine work of fiction, I love to read history. I also love Mark Twain and Harper Lee.

Heroes:

My Mother for Consistently Putting Up With My Shit, America's Fighting Men and Women, Winston Churchill, Dr. King, Ronald Reagan, FDR, JFK...
