Hazel Strange is currently on hiatus while our members work on other projects. But we'll be back to rock your face before you know it.
We are Hazel Strange, a female fronted, original rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. We play all original, emotionally charged, edgy rock and roll with raw, honest lyrics of personal turmoil, inner struggles, relationships, and failure. Our influences are many, and also none. We listen to a wide variety of music, but don't try to emulate any of it. Everything is purely original (at least we think it is). We've been told we don't sound like anything else out there. Our musical idols include such artists as Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Soundgarden, CCR, and Joni Mitchell.
Hazel Strange is made up of Jamie Holm on vocals and bass guitar, her brother Chris Holm on guitar, Melissa Lindemann ..s and flute, Mark Larson on drums, and Sasha Druva on lead guitar. Hazel Strange was formed by Jamie and Chris in mid-2006, with their first show on July 16th. The current lineup was finalized in August of 2007. Jamie is the principle lyricist and Chris writes most of the music. As the band progresses, a larger portion of the writing process is becoming a team effort.
Hazel Strange released our debut album, "Poor Little Girls" on December 15th, 2006 with an official CD release show on January 13th, 2007 at The 400 Bar in Minneapolis. We have written and continue to write new songs and much of our standard live set consists of songs not on the album. We look to head into the studio in 2008 for our second release.
Look for us around Minneapolis and the surrounding areas. We'll do our best to rock your socks right off.
