I want my Daddy's records!!

About Me

I'm here for the music and anything else that comes up is a nice plus. I live in Honkytonk Hollywood, TN which is perfect for me because I like the rock and roll. I grew up on the East Coast, spent a few years in the Akron/Cleveland, Ohio area, stopped in Louisville, Ky and Chattanooga, TN and hope to be in Nashville for a good long time. Less than 50% of the music produced in Nashville is considered Country and the city has welcomed just about every art form you can imagine. The pompadour was invented here and there could easily be a toupee museum of the stars but I just haven't found it yet. The center of my universe is my 5 year old daughter (the star of the pics) and the keen photography was provided by my wife Roni who's talented work can be found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ronicotton/

My Interests

Visual, Performing, and Recording Arts, All things New Orleans, International Economics, all styles of cooking and cuisine, Cleveland Indians Baseball, good media.

I'd like to meet:

Jesus, Elvis, Jim Valvano, Johnny Carson, Joe Strummer, Buddy Holly.

Music:

Cow-punk, Rockabilly, Blues; Most bands of many styles that ever played The Brewery (Raleigh), Secret Garden (back in the day Greensboro), Cat's Cradle (Chapel Hill) or Ziggy's (Winston-Salem); within 3 degrees of Joe Strummer, Warner Hodges, Peter Holsapple, Jimmy Thackery, or Brad Rice. I also listen to Buddy Zapata when I'm feeling original. Visit his myspace page for something completely different yet somehow you feel smarter and more easily affected afterwards.Amy Cook has the most beautiful of voices and her songs are affecting, well structured and catchy. You are being favored by Jason Ringenberg and the tune Prosperity Train - Stace England's first hand account of the fall of Cairo. Illinois, that is. Get Jason's latest compilation disk and read the stories about the origins of this tune and the 20-some others that are included. Like all-good story tellers - there's always a story about the story - and Jason has always provided generous liner notes. Most of all...this track "smokes"!! No Big Rock Candy mountain for these folkies!

Movies:

Cate Blanchett, Steve Buscemi, Matt Dillon, Jim Jarmusch, Penn, Gus VZ, Clint, Coens, and John Waters from my home state of Md. in the land of O'Malley's March.

Television:

Fishing with John, Austin City Limits, The Office, Curb your Enthusiasm. Sundance, Bravo.

Books:

The Big one, the Other Big one, and some smaller ones that resemble magazines or pamphlets.

Heroes:

My parents.

Anarchy in the pre-K

This is more of an information thing than any kind of witty anecdotal prose but it's a good deal for people like myself who have the desire to introduce a child to music.  Absolutely nothing wron...
