Dynamic!, Passoinate!, and Anointed! Michael A. Smith is a native of State College, PA where his deep love for God and music all started. He was a proficient drummer at age 5, and played for his home churches children's choir at Unity Church of Jesus Christ located in State College. (ucjc.org) By the age of 8 he started teaching himself piano and organ, then later developing his craft and ear he has developed perfect pitch. Just for fun he also memorized the tones on the alpha numeric keypads on telephones. In 1991 Michael's family relocated to Waldorf, MD. It is at this juncture of his life where he experienced being exposed to the urban genre of gospel music in the DC metro area. That's where his musical abilities and influence went to a greater level. Since then he has traveled all over the world ministering his gifts with gospel greats such as Edwin and Tramaine Hawkins, Byron Cage, Maurette Brown-Clark, Stephen Hurd, Brent Jones, Tonex, 7 Sons of Soul, and many others. Currently he is the music director for gospel artist Iyona Blake. Michael played organ on his first live recording at the age of 18, and since then you can find his name credited on over 25 recordings most recently as producer, co-producer, or music director. At the young age of 28 he has founded his own music enterprise labeled MAS Productions, LLC where he serves as President & CEO. MAS Productions, LLC is a young vibrant music production, and consulting company. Moving forward in ministry he serves as Senior Director of Worship, Music & Creative Arts for Loudoun Bible Church in Ashburn, VA where Wayne Wyatt is senior pastor (loudounbiblechurch.com). He is a 1998 graduate of McDonough High School of Pomfret, MD. Currently he attends College of Southern Maryland studying to recieve a Associates of Arts degree. Later he plans to transfer to University of Maryland College Park, where he will obtain a Bachelors of Arts degree majoring in music performance. He has over 11 years of hands on experience teaching choirs, facilitating workshops, and adminstrating music departments in the DC metro area with an impeccable track record of integrity and professionalism. He is the proud husband to the beautiful and anointed psalmist Doretha "Dodi" Smith, and father to their first daughter Trinity.
