About Me
Life is filled with suffering, but it is also filled with many wonders, like the blue sky, the sunshine, the eyes of a baby. To suffer is not enough. We must also be in touch with the wonders of life. They are within us all around us, everywhere, any time........If we are not happy, if we are not peaceful, we cannot share peace and happiness with others, even those we love, those who live under the same roof. If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace. Do we need to make a special effort to enjoy the beauty of the blue sky? Do we have to practice to be able to enjoy it? No, we just enjoy it. Each second, each minute of our lives can be like this. Wherever we are, any time, we have the capacity to enjoy the sunshine, the presence of each other, even the sensation of our breathing. We don't need to go to China to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to travel into the future to enjoy our breathing. We can be in touch with these things right now. It would be a pity if we are only aware of suffering. We are so busy we hardly have time to look at the people we love, even in our own household, and to look at ourselves. Society is organized in a way that even when we have some leisure time, we don't know how to use it to get back in touch with ourselves. We have millions of ways to lose this precious time - we turn on the TV or pick up the telephone, or start the car and go somewhere. We are not used to being with ourselves, and we act as if we don't like ourselves and are trying to escape from ourselves...............................*hey! my name is mandy! i'm 20 years old and i live in houston texas. i moved here about 2 years ago with my boyfriend of 3 years gabe. i love him with all of my heart and i would do anything for him. i live with him and my 2 kitties that i adore. like i said i'm 20...but only until january 20 '09 woo hoo 21! i love it here in houston but i do miss new mexico...thats where i'm from...however i dont think i would move back. i like to color especially in little kid coloring books...but only with colored pencils....i dont like crayons and i dont like markers. i like to read but i dont do it very often. i like to watch tv...i love the simpsons, family guy, friends, all the old nickelodeon shows like alex mac, clarissa explains it all, are you afraid of the dark, etc....i'm not a very deep person on the outside but if you were in my brain youd probably go nuts. i'm one of those people that keep aaaallllllllllll of my emotions inside until one day someting sets me off and i might cry or yell or just be extremely scary quiet. i'm an emotion ninja....i can read people really well! if you ever notice me just looking at you and i have kind of a concentrated face but its blank at the same time...i'm reading you....its not a bad thing...its just how i get to know people and see what theyre about....i can also tell what kind of mood you are in...its part of my studying...so if you are in a bad mood but you say 'no i'm fine'...i know you are not even if no one else can tell. i'm a really loyal friend....if you treat me right i will treat you awesome....i'll be there thru thick and thin. you can talk to me about anyting...i dont judge people no matter how hard that my be to believe...i dont...i love the golden rule 'treat others the way you want to be treated' well, this is really long so if you wanna know anything just ask...i'm pretty open!Every morning, when we wake up, we have twenty-four
brand-new hours to live. What a precious gift! We have
the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours
will bring peace, joy, and happiness to ourselves and others.
Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in
everything we do and see. The question is whether or not
we are in touch with it. We don't have to travel far away
to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to leave our city or
even our neighborhood to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child.
Even the air we breathe can be a source of joy.We can smile, breathe, walk, and eat our meals in a way that
allows us to be in touch with the abundance of happiness that
is available. We are very good at preparing to live, but not very
good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma,
and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house,
and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive
in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.
Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace,
joy, and serenity. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.*
