Pet Awareness

About Me

Hey Everyone! I hope all is well!!! I am writing to tell you some facts about animals. I am pretty sure you all know that I love dogs and am trying to get something done about the pet overpopulation. Please read this when you have time to actually pay attention to it.First, let me start off by telling you that in 2005 30,000 pets were taken into the animal shelter in my city. (To my family and friends out of state, there are statistics similar to this where you live.) Of the 30,000 only 12,453 left the shelter alive and over 16,000 pets were euthanized. Now please remember that there are millions of pets all over the WORLD that don't have homes and get sent to be euthanized. The pet overpopulation is due to people not spaying/neutering their pets. There doesn't seem to be enough awareness of this problem. It is very easily overlooked by the people who don't absolutely adore pets. Please help me to raise awareness!! There are approximately 65 million owned dogs in the United States. The average number of litters a fertile dog can produce in one year is 2. The average number of puppies in a canine litter is 6-10. That means that in six years, one female dog and her offspring can theoretically produce 67,000 dogs. That is a lot of dogs and there are no where NEAR enough homes for them all. Please everyone, Help me to raise awareness about this huge problem, even if you don't particularly like animals. Even if we get only a couple of people to spay/neuter, we will have raised more awareness and saved animal lives.
